Udara’s 91 Powers Visitors as SL Scored 182 Despite Naseem Shah's 3 Wickets

RAWALPINDI: An aggressive batting masterclass from opener Lahiru Udara and a disciplined death-bowling exhibition headlined the first innings as the high-intensity PAK vs SL 1st T20I live action got underway at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Ultimately, SL scored 182 for 8 in 20 overs, leaving the match dynamically poised at the mid-innings break.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, the Sri Lankan batting lineup capitalised on excellent powerplay conditions. Despite losing early partners, Udara anchored the innings elegantly, smashing a blistering 91 off just 55 deliveries, laced with 11 boundaries and a six.

Naseem Breaks the Surge

Pakistan's newly structured bowling attack struggled initially to contain the scoring rate on a typical flat Rawalpindi surface. However, the hosts found their way back into the contest during the latter half of the innings.

The primary architect of this late-innings resurgence was fast bowler Naseem Shah. Naseem Shah's 3 for 36 across his four-overs proved pivotal in dismantling the visitors' momentum just as they looked primed for a score well beyond the 200-mark.

Delivering pinpoint yorkers and deceptive slower balls in the death overs, Naseem claimed crucial wickets to tilt the balance back toward the fielding side.

Complementing Naseem’s express pace was debutant Mohammad Imran, who enjoyed an excellent introduction to international cricket. Imran bowled with remarkable control, registering highly economical figures of 2 for 21 to choke the scoring rate from the other end.

Alongside a wicket apiece from spinner Shadab Khan, Razaullah, and Saim Ayub, the home side effectively curbed Sri Lanka's lower-order blitz.

The Chase Begins

The match marks the dawn of a fresh chapter for Pakistan cricket as opening batter Sahibzada Farhan takes charge of the national side for the first time on home soil. Stepping into the captaincy role following a thorough squad overhaul by the selectors, Farhan leads a young, experimental team designed with an eye toward future global tournaments.

Chasing a target of 183 to secure a 1-0 lead in the three-match bilateral series, Pakistan's opening pair walked out to loud cheers from the Rawalpindi crowd. The hosts will rely heavily on the experienced shoulders of Fakhar Zaman alongside their new skipper to lay down a solid foundation against a potent Sri Lankan bowling outfit spearheaded by Nuwan Thushara and Dushmantha Chameera.
