Pakistan Cricketers Face Abu Dhabi T10 Absence Over PCB NOC Fee

Pakistan Cricketers Face Abu Dhabi T10 Absence Over PCB NOC Fee

Reports suggest the Pakistan players Abu Dhabi T10 situation has taken another turn, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reportedly demanding USD 10,000 for every No-Objection Certificate (NOC) issued to players taking part in the tournament.

The demand has put the participation of 16 Pakistani players in serious doubt, just two days before the competition begins on November 7 in Abu Dhabi.

According to reports, the tournament organisers submitted NOC applications shortly after the player draft on September 30. However, the PCB communicated its financial condition only at the start of this week, leaving franchises with little time to find a solution.

Five of the six participating teams selected Pakistani players during the draft. Several familiar international names were among them, including Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Amir, Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed and Faheem Ashraf.

The reported PCB NOC fee for Abu Dhabi T10 has now become a concern for franchises that had already completed their squad selections.

Some players were reportedly willing to pay the USD 10,000 themselves from their tournament earnings if their franchise owners declined to cover the cost. However, attempts to settle the matter through mediation have not produced an agreement, and teams have started considering replacement options.

Which Pakistan players are selected for Abu Dhabi T10?

A total of 16 Pakistani cricketers were picked across five franchises. UAE Bulls have the largest group, with six players, including Shadab Khan, Mohammad Amir, Khushdil Shah, Azam Khan, Khawaja Nafay and Mohammad Wasim Jr.

United Tigers also have five Pakistan players in their squad, with Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Sufyan Moqeem and Abbas Afridi among their selections.

The remaining players are Naseem Shah (Royal Desert Champions), Hasan Nawaz, Akif Javed and Ali Raza (Emirates Eagles), and Salman Irshad (Arabian Aces).

PCB's NOC policy faces renewed attention

The latest dispute follows a similar situation involving the Nepal Premier League, where the PCB reportedly sought USD 25,000 per player for overseas participation.

The board's approach to NOC charges has varied over the years, with similar discussions emerging around the launch of the International League T20 (ILT20).

According to the report, the PCB's position is linked to the benefits it expects from reciprocal arrangements between overseas competitions and the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The board reportedly considers whether countries hosting these leagues offer comparable opportunities to Pakistani players in return.

With the Abu Dhabi T10 running from November 7 to 20, the franchises now face a deadline to resolve the issue or bring in replacements. The PCB's reported demand could leave several Pakistan internationals out of a tournament for which they were already selected.
