Is Sarfaraz Ahmed Retiring from International Cricket?

Former captain and wicket-keeper batsman, Sarfaraz Ahmed became the talk of the town after news of his retirement started making rounds in the media.

The legendary wicket-keeper was caught off-guard during a media interaction related to the Champions T20 Cup where he’s serving as the coach of team Dolphins.

“Look, as far as my career is concerned. I think I don’t need to say anything. Nothing is left. I know what you are waiting for and it will happen soon,” Sarfaraz responded.

After giving a statement that clearly showed retirement in the pipeline, Sarfaraz made another media appearance to clarify his previous statement.

Rumors regarding Sarfaraz’s retirement heightened further when he was not selected for any format of the Pakistan tour of South Africa.

However, Sarfaraz Ahmed has refuted all rumors suggesting that he’s planning to retire.

He stated that he remains actively engaged in playing cricket and is open to grabbing any opportunities that will be presented to him.

Moreover, Sarfaraz reaffirmed his commitment and willingness to play for Pakistan in any position if given another opportunity.

“I’ve never demanded, ‘I want to bat here or there.’ If I am given the chance to play for the national team, I will gladly accept it,” he added.

Regarding retirement from international cricket, Sarfaraz said: “As far as leaving cricket is concerned, that is my personal decision. When I feel that I should quit cricket, I will quit.”

Sarfaraz Ahmed made his international cricket debut in 2007 and since then has been a significant part of the Pakistan cricket team.

His most notable achievement came in 2017 when he led Pakistan to its first-ever ICC Men’s Champions Trophy title with a stunning 180-run victory over fierce rivals India in the final.
