Sri Lanka Knock Pakistan Out To Reach Women’s T20 Asia Cup Final

Sri Lanka booked their place in the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 final after beating Pakistan by four wickets in the latest clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Fatima Sana remained the most notable player of the match, however, her solo effort was not enough to stop the rampant defending champions from securing a victory.

Pakistan were asked to bat first and finished their 20 overs on 130/5, with Fatima providing a late boost with the bat.

Their innings got off to a poor start when Muneeba Ali was dismissed for two in the second over, leaving Pakistan at just five runs.

Shawaal Zulfiqar then tried to put Pakistan back on track with some attacking shots. She scored 24 from 16 balls before Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu ended her stay at the crease.

Due to quick early strikes, Pakistan were struggling at 29/2 after 4.4 overs, but Gull Feroza tried to rebuild the innings. She put together small stands with Ayesha Zafar and Sadaf Shamas, although neither batter could stay for long, scoring seven and eight runs respectively.

Fatima then came out to join Feroza, and the two added 40 runs together for the fifth wicket. Their partnership lasted until the final ball of the 16th over, when Feroza was dismissed for 21 from 32 deliveries.

Fatima took Pakistan through to the end of the innings and finished unbeaten on 47. She faced 36 balls and hit four fours and two sixes to give her side a competitive total.

In the second innings, Sri Lanka overcame a shaky start to complete the chase, reaching the target with six wickets down and eight balls still left.

The defending champions stuttered badly in the beginning, as they lost four wickets inside the first seven overs with only 33 runs on the board.

Samarawickrama and Dilhari then took control and began rebuilding the innings. They added 67 runs for the fifth wicket, helping Sri Lanka cross the 100-run mark in the 16th over.

However, both batters were dismissed by Pakistan captain Fatima Sana in the 17th over. Their wickets left Sri Lanka at 109/6 and gave Pakistan another chance to fight back.

Needing 22 runs to win the contest, Nilakshika Silva and Kaushini Nuthyangana then came together and played a blinder to take the game away from Pakistan. The pair wasted little time and finished the chase in style, scoring 34 runs from only 10 balls to stun the green shirts.

After edging Pakistan out in a tough clash, the defending champions will now face India in final, which will be played at the same venue on Sunday.
