Champions Trophy 2025 Venue Finalised - PCB Accepts Hybrid Model

Champions Trophy 2025 Venue Finalised - PCB Accepts Hybrid Model

According to Cricbuzz, the Pakistan Cricket Board is on the verge of accepting the hybrid model and will co-host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with UAE.

ICC has called a final meeting regarding the Champions Trophy 2025 venue on Thursday, 5th December, at 4:30 PM (PST).

The PCB put forward three demands in exchange for their acceptance of the hybrid model.

First, to stage all the ICC events in India in a hybrid model till 2031, because if India can’t come to Pakistan then Pakistan won’t play in India either.

Second, to put Pakistan and India in separate groups for the CT25 so that the chances of them going up against each other are as low as possible and all of Pakistan’s matches can be played at their home ground.

Third, to hold a tri-series between India, Pakistan, and any other team at a neutral venue like the UAE.

Expectedly, none of the above-mentioned demands of the PCB will be accepted by the BCCI and because the BCCI has so much influence on the ICC, it will convince the ICC to reject these demands as well.

PCB will eventually have to accept the hybrid model without getting any of their demands accepted.

According to the hybrid model, five of the fifteen league matches including 3 of India’s group stage matches, 1 semi final, and the final match will be moved to the UAE.

The model is designed to meet the needs of both the PCB and the International Cricket Council (ICC), with the latter expected to approve the arrangement.

Despite initial resistance, the PCB will have to put their foot down and accept the ICC’s proposed hybrid model plan.
