ICC Champions Trophy 2025: ICC, BCCI, & PCB Virtual Meeting To Take Place Today

ICC Champions Trophy 2025: ICC, BCCI, & PCB Virtual Meeting To Take Place Today

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made it clear to the International Cricket Council (ICC) that they will not accept a hybrid model for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

On 29th November, a highly anticipated virtual meeting is scheduled to take place between high profile members of the ICC, BCCI, and the PCB. The meeting aims to resolve the issues surrounding the venue of the CT25.

ICC is looking to put this matter to bed as soon as possible because of the immense pressure being put on them by the broadcasters.

Like every other time, the BCCI is very stern with their demand, but for the first time, the PCB has adopted a very strict stance and is not ready to budge from it.

On Thursday, during a press conference at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Naqvi emphasised the PCB’s commitment to putting Pakistan cricket first.

“Our stance is very clear,” he declared. “I promise we’ll do what is best for Pakistan cricket. I’m constantly in touch with the ICC chairman, and my team is talking to them constantly.”

“We’re still clear in our stance that it’s not acceptable that we play cricket in India, and they don’t play cricket here. Whatever will happen, will happen on the basis of equality. We’ve told the ICC very clearly, and what happens next we’ll let you know,” Mohsin Naqvi added.

Majority of the ICC board members are inclined towards adopting a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy 2025, with all of India’s matches being staged at a neutral venue like the UAE or South Africa.

One semi-final and final match can take place in Pakistan only if India doesn’t qualify for the last leg of the tournament.

Even if the Pakistan Cricket Board accepts the hybrid model, they are not ready to play the Pakistan vs India CT25 match at a neutral venue and the ICC and broadcasters are not ready to put both teams in different groups due to a huge revenue dip.

According to some sources, the ICC has made it clear that they can’t schedule the CT25 without India so eventually Pakistan will have to give in and adopt the hybrid model.

If the PCB is not ready to budge then chances are that the ICC will completely revoke Pakistan’s chance of hosting the tournament.

Such a decision will cause significant damage to the PCB’s reputation as they have already invested so much money and emotions into the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 preparations
