T20 World Cup 2024 Super-8 Match Schedule, Qualified Teams, Venue

T20 World Cup 2024 Super-8 Match Schedule, Qualified Teams, Venue

Here’s a look at the match fixtures, qualified teams, schedule, and venues for the Super-8 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

This year’s biggest cricket tournament is coming towards an end as the group stage of the CWC 2024 is about to conclude after a series of nail biting matches and some major unprecedented match results.

Four teams, India, Australia, South Africa, and West Indies have ensured qualification to the highly anticipated T20 World Cup 2024 Super-8 stage in the West Indies, while nine teams remain in the race for three spots across as many groups.

Contrary to popular belief and expectations, Afghanistan became the fifth team to qualify for the Super-8 after winning all three of their group stage matches.

The two qualification spots from Group C have been filled by co-host West Indies and Afghanistan, while the second spot in group A, B, and D is still open.

In the Super 8, the teams will again split into two groups from which the top two teams in either group will advance into the semi-finals.

The teams will be separated according to their predetermined seedings for the top-eight T20I sides.

The predetermined seedings for the Super 8s were:

Group 1: India (A1); Australia (B2); New Zealand (C1); Sri Lanka (D2)

Group 2: Pakistan (A2); England (B1); West Indies (C2); South Africa (D1)

Unexpectedly, New Zealand and Sri Lanka were eliminated from the Super-8 race, whereas Pakistan and England are heavily relying on the weather conditions and other teams’ match results to go in their favor.

Another unexpected contender for the Super-8s is Scotland. England and Scotland are the top two teams from Group B apart from Australia.

After England’s massive victory against Oman, the qualification scenario and chances for both English teams have changed significantly.

If Scotland is able to beat the mighty Australian team with an adequate margin then they will kick England out of the Super-8 race, but if they beat Australia with a small margin, then the qualification will depend on the respective teams’ net run rate.

From Group D, Bangladesh has the highest chances for progressing to the Super-8 stage.

The only group that has a lot of suspense and mystery surrounding its Super-8 participants is group A.

Although India has cemented its place in the next stage of the T20 Cricket World Cup 2024, the 2nd spot from this group is yet to find a contender.

Pakistan and USA are the two teams out of which one is going to qualify and the other is going to go back home.

A confirmed result is expected to come in by the end of this week after the PAK vs IRE match on 16th June, Sunday.

If mother nature takes matters into its own hands and the match between Pakistan and Ireland or USA and Ireland is washed out, then USA will qualify for the Super-8 and Pakistan is going to fly back home.

The Super 8 matches will run from 19 June to 24 June before the semifinals on 26 June and 27 June in San Fernando and Guyana respectively. The final will be held on 29 June at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
