T20 World Cup Pakistan Squad 2024

Team Pakistan has been delaying their T20 World Cup 2024 squad announcement till the eleventh hour. The PCB is expected to make an announcement on 24th May, one day before the ICC’s squad selection deadline.

Except for Pakistan, all the teams announced their official T20 World Cup squads well before the deadline. 

This delay in finalizing the squad has raised some questions regarding the competency and physical fitness of the “likely” Pakistan squad for T20 World Cup 2024. 

So, what could be the actual reason behind this much delay in Pakistan squad announcement? Let’s find out. 

Likely Pakistan squad World Cup 2024

PCB announced an 18-man squad for the PAK vs IRE and PAK vs ENG T20I series and the 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 will be picked from the same set of players.

Here’s what that 18-member squad looks like: 

Babar Azam (captain), Mohammad Rizwan (vice captain), Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Amir, Imad Wasim, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Abbas Afridi, Irfan Khan, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Usman Khan. 

Initially, Pakistan were to finalize their squad after playing the 1st T20I against England, but that did not happen because the match was abandoned due to rain. 

The only change that has taken place in the Pakistan squad 2024 as of yet is the release of Hasan Ali. He was initially selected as a replacement for injured Haris Rauf, but the PCB decided to let him go as Rauf is now fully fit. 

Moreover, Hasan will be continuing his commitments in County Cricket for Warwickshire. 

With no official announcement from the PCB, we can only make assumptions regarding the Pak World Cup squad.
