What Does PCB Think Of BCB’s Decision To Hire A Security Consultant

Bangladesh is set to tour Pakistan for a two test match series in late August. The Test series will form part of the 2023–2025 ICC World Test Championship.

According to Bangladeshi media, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has asked their federal government to provide them with a security consultant for the upcoming PAK vs BAN series.

“Look providing safety is up to them (Pakistan) and we go there because they assure us to provide state-level security and after they assured us about it, the tour was fixed,” BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus told reporters on Wednesday.

“At the same time we have requested the government to give us a security consultant during the tour who will maintain communication with them at all times regarding the security issues,” he said.

PCB reacted in the most humble way to BCB’s request for a security consultant. A PCB representative said it is BCB’s right to have a security consultant before affirming that the touring party has not expressed any security concerns.

According to the spokesperson, security consultants are now a normal part of the player support personnel like a team doctor or a media manager.

Even at a tournament as great as the ICC T20 World Cup, all teams traveled with their own security managers.

BCB’s request did not upset the Pakistan Cricket Board and neither did they take it upon their ego.

The PCB spokesperson added, “If the Bangladesh Cricket Board wants to include a security consultant as part of their team management for the upcoming Test tour, then it is their prerogative. But as of now, the BCB have not expressed any security concerns with the PCB.”

According to sources, the PCB shared an extensive security plan with the BCB last month. The plan didn’t receive any criticism or queries from the touring team’s management.

The Bangladesh cricket team will land in Pakistan on 17th August but the PAK vs BAN 1st test match will commence on 21st August.

The Men in Green boast an undefeated record against Bangladesh, securing 12 victories out of 13 games, while one match ended in a draw.
