Stallions vs Markhors Champions Cup 2024: Fans Leave Stadium After Babar Azam’s Wicket

Stallions vs Markhors Champions Cup 2024: Fans Leave Stadium After Babar Azam’s Wicket

Pakistan’s white-ball captain and star batter, Babar Azam is a part of the Stallions’ squad in the ongoing Champions Cup 2024.

All the matches of the Champions One-Day Cup 2024 are taking place at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.

The 29-year-old batsman took charge of Mohammad Haris’ side in the 4th match of Champions Cup against Mohammad Rizwan’s Markhors.

Babar came in to bat at no.3 and scored 45 off 45 balls. His form has been in question since quite a few months now and his fans as well as colleagues were desperate to see him perform.

During his stay at the crease, he hit eight fours, five of which came in one over bowled by pacer Shahnawaz Dahani. Babar was the fourth Stallions batter to get out in the match.

His innings was cut short on the first ball of the 16th over bowled by Zahid Mahmood.

Several videos of fans leaving the stadium went viral on the internet after Babar Azam lost his wicket.

Some netizens started comparing Babar Azam to Shahid Afridi, stating that fans left the stadiums the same way when Afridi used to get out.

Babar, who is one of the most cherished batters of present times, enjoys a huge popularity in Pakistan.

He has impressed with his batting performances in the recent matches of Champions One-Day Cup after facing a lot of criticism for poor batting in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, which Pakistan lost 0-2.

Despite Babar’s 45, Stallions could only manage to score 105 runs in 23.4 overs and went on to lose the match by 126 runs.

For Markhors, Zahid picked up five wickets for 18 runs in 4.4 overs, and three Stallions batters were sent back to the pavilion by Salman Agha.

Earlier in the first innings, Markhors flourished with Agha’s 51 and Ifitkhar Ahmed’s 60 to post a total of 231 runs on the board. Captain Rizwan also made a notable contribution of 33 runs from 39 balls.

Recent victory against Stallions has placed Markhors at the top of the points table. They will now face Saud Shakeel’s Dolphins in their third match on 17th September, Tuesday.

Despite losing the match against Markhors by a huge margin, Stallions still managed to grab the second spot in the points table.

Haris’ Stallions will play their next match against Dolphins on 19th September, Thursday.
