Hasan Mahmud Rips Apart The Indian Batting Lineup During IND vs BAN 1st Test

Bangladeshi pacer Hasan Mahmud has done what many renowned fast bowlers couldn’t do throughout their careers.

The star player took the wickets of captain Rohit Sharma, legendary batsman Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill, all before the tea break during IND vs BAN 1st Test day 1.

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first. Their decision worked out well in their favor as Hasan Mahmud dismissed both Rohit and Kohli for just 6 runs and then removed Shubman Gill for an eight ball duck.

The hosts were reduced to 34/3 in the first session of the India vs Bangladesh 1st test.

Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant managed to rescue India from a shaky position with an unbeaten fourth-wicket partnership that was worth 54 at lunch, with India ending the morning session in a relatively better position of 88/3.

Mahmud, however, would break the partnership right after lunch, getting Pant caught-behind on 39 to deny the Indian wicketkeeper-batter a half-century on Test comeback.

The Bangladeshi pacer has been in a really good form and made a significant contribution in Bangladesh scoring a historic 2-0 win in the PAK vs BAN test series.

While Hasan Mahmud is relatively new to red-ball cricket, he is somewhat experienced as far as the limited-overs formats are concerned, having represented Bangladesh in 22 ODIs and 18 T20Is since making his debut at home against Zimbabwe in March 2020.

His figures of 3/28 in his ODI debut against the West Indies left a lasting impression on his teammates and management.

Mahmud has emerged as one of Bangladesh’s most promising fast bowlers in recent years. He has been a key member of the pace attack, alongside senior bowlers like Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Shoriful Islam, contributing to the Tigers' efforts in reducing their reliance on spin.

Besides his 14 Test wickets, Mahmud has 48 wickets to his name in the white-ball formats (30 in ODIs, 18 in T20Is). That includes a haul of 5/32 against Ireland in 2023, his only five-for for Bangladesh in the white-ball formats, as well as 3/47 against India in their T20 World Cup clash in Adelaide in 2022.

Hasan Mahmud finished as the third-highest wicket taker with 8 wickets at an average of 24.12 during the PAK vs BAN test series.
