IND vs NZ 1st Test Live Updates: India's Shocking Collapse

IND vs NZ 1st Test Live Updates: India's Shocking Collapse

The highly anticipated IND vs NZ test series kickstarted on 16th October. The New Zealand tour of India 2024 will feature 3 test matches, all of which will be a part of the World Test Championship 2023-25.

Team India was surely coming from a place of high morale as they recently won the test series against Bangladesh 2-0.

On the other hand, the New Zealand team’s spirits must be dampened due to their recent 2-0 test series loss against Sri Lanka.

However, what unfolded in the Ind vs Nz 1st test was surely not what anyone was expecting.

The hosts were bowled out for their third-lowest total in tests and lowest total on their home ground.

Half of the Indian batting lineup returned to the pavilion without scoring a single run. Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant was the highest scoring batsman with his 20 runs.

Matt Henry’s 5-15 and William O'Rourke’s 4-22 completely crushed the Indian batting lineup.

The 46 run total was the lowest total scored by any team playing in India. Before this, it was New Zealand that held the record of scoring the lowest on Indian soil, 62 runs in an innings.

India vs New Zealand 1st test day 3 live score

India began their 2nd innings during the second half of day 3. In response to India’s meager total of just 46 runs, the Black Caps scored a massive 402, leaving India trailing with 356 runs.

Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Rohit Sharma started the game off quite well. The skipper scored a half century before getting out on 52 runs.

After the openers’ dismissal, legendary players Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan took things in their hands. Their partnership of 105 runs appears to be going strong.

India is now trailing by 159 runs.
