Babar Azam’s Journey From Breaking Hearts to Breaking Records

Babar Azam’s Journey From Breaking Hearts to Breaking Records

On 19th December, Thursday, Babar Azam ended his half-century drought during the PAK vs SA 2nd ODI.

Pakistan’s former white-ball captain was struggling hard to regain his form for the past one year. Babar who once used to swim in fifties and hundreds last scored a half century more than a year ago against New Zealand during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

In the South Africa vs Pakistan 2nd ODI, Babar stepped onto the crease one down and managed to score 73 runs off 95 balls. His innings along with skipper Rizwan’s proved to be the anchor that the Pakistani team needed to stay alive in the game.

Not only this, Babar’s innings also yielded another coveted outcome. He surpassed a record which he was previously sharing with former legendary Indian batsman MS Dhoni.

With his 33rd half-century, Babar Azam surpassed the record of MS Dhoni for scoring the most 50+ scores against SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) countries across all formats.

Previously, Babar and Dhoni were sharing the record amongst themselves with both players tied on 38 scores of 50 or more against SENA countries.
