Mohammad Rizwan & Co. Clinch The PAK vs SA ODI Series 2-0

Pakistan won the PAK vs SA ODI series 2-0 after defeating South Africa by 81 runs in the 2nd ODI.

South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first. The Pakistan team innings was marked by two early blows as Marco Jansen dismissed Abdullah Shafique for a duck and later Saim Ayub lost his wicket to Kwena Maphaka.

With both openers returning to the pavilion at just 53 runs, the future of the innings sure didn’t seem too bright, but Babar Azam and skipper Mohammad Rizwan chose not to leave the matters to fate.

Babar accompanied by Rizwan took the game forward from 53/2 to 168/3, providing the much needed stability to the shaky Pakistani innings.

Babar scored 73 off 95 balls, a slow yet steady knock and the skipper made 80 off 82 balls.

The next best knock was played by Kamran Ghulam who scored a whopping 63 off 32 balls, providing some next level power in the last leg of the innings.

The Pakistani team managed to put up a massive score of 329 on the scoreboard.

The Proteas’ innings were opened by captain Temba Bavuma and Tony de Zorzi. Although Bavuma was making a return into the South Africa’s ODI squad, his stay at the crease was cut short by pacer Naseem Shah. The hosts lost their 1st wicket at just 34 runs.

Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah slowly dismantled the entire South African batting line up, helping their team win the match and the series.
