Shaheen Afridi: Savior of the Team, But for How Long?

Shaheen Afridi: Savior of the Team, But for How Long?

The Pakistani fast bowlers have unintentionally taken the responsibility of winning games single handedly for their team.

Recently, Pakistan won the ODI series against Australia 2-1, beating Australia on their home ground after a massive 22 years.

The credit of this highly cherished victory majorly goes to the Pakistani fast bowlers, particularly Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi, and Naseem Shah.

The above-mentioned bowlers accompanied by Mohammad Hasnain wreaked havoc on the Aussie batting lineup and gave their team a real chance at winning.

Haris Rauf and co. restricted Australia at 163 in the 2nd ODI and at 140 in the 3rd ODI. Undoubtedly, this was a massive achievement for the Pakistan team as Australia is the second strongest ODI team in the world.

What helped the Green Shirts get past the finish line were noteworthy knocks by opener Saim Ayub.

His innings played a significant role in kick-starting the Pakistan run-chase.

Although Pakistan did achieve a significant milestone by defeating Australia 2-1, there’s still a lot that needs to be discussed and worked on before we start riding on a high horse.

Shaheen Afridi grabs the top spot in the ICC ODI bowlers’ rankings

Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan ace bowler and key player has finally claimed the top spot in the ICC ODI bowlers’ ranking. Afridi’s brilliant performance during the Pak vs Aus ODI series helped him achieve this feat.

Afridi was surely having a difficult time with the ball since the past few months. His underwhelming performance resulted in him being dropped from the Pak vs Eng 2nd test

This surely put things in perspective for the bowler which is why he rose to the occasion during the Pakistan vs Australia ODI series.

Undoubtedly, Afridi is the cornerstone of the Pakistan cricket team, but this increasing dependability on him will surely give rise to a lot of questions regarding the Pakistan batting lineup.
